due to a gastric diverticulum Gastric diverticula are uncommon, usually asymptomatic, and typically present as a solitary diverticulum found incidentally during endoscopy [1,2]. Occasionally, gastric diverticula cause symptoms, including pain, bloating, epigastric fullness, bleeding, and perforation. Rarely, they are associated with abscess formation [2–4]. We present a case of a gastric diverticulum complicated by recurrent intraabdominal abscess formation, treated with drainage, antibiotics, and, ultimately, laparoscopic surgery. An 18-year-old woman with a history of idiopathic intra-abdominal abscess, which was treated with percutaneous drainage and antibiotics, presented with recurrent abdominal pain. She had no other significant medical history. Computed tomography (CT) revealed an abscess near the pylorus of the stomach (●" Fig.1). The abscesswas initially drained percutaneously. The patient underwent esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), which showed a diverticulum in the antrum (●" Fig.2). She

Erratum to “Abdominal Wall Abscess due to Acute Perforated Sigmoid Diverticulitis: A Case Report with MDCT and US Findings”
Perforation of the inflamed diverticula is a common diverticulitis complication. It usually leads to the formation of a local abscess. In some rare cases, the inflammatory process may spread towards extra-abdominal sites like the anterior or posterior abdominal wall or the thigh and form an abscess in these sites. We present the case of a 73-year-old man with a history of pain at the lower left...
متن کاملA Rare Case Presentation of a Perforated Giant Sigmoid Diverticulum
Giant sigmoid diverticulum (GSD) is a rare complication of diverticulosis. These lesions arise from herniations of the mucosa through the muscle wall which progressively enlarge with colonic gas to become large air-filled cysts evident on plain X-ray and CT scans. We present a rare case of a 72-year-old female presenting with abdominal distention, abdominal tenderness, and fever who developed a...
متن کاملEndoscopic Ultrasound-Guided Drainage of Intra-Abdominal Abscess after Gastric Perforation in a Patient Receiving Ramucirumab and Paclitaxel for Advanced Gastric Cancer
Gastrointestinal perforation is a serious adverse event that occurs in approximately 1% of patients receiving ramucirumab and paclitaxel. A 67-year-old man with unresectable advanced gastric cancer was admitted to our hospital and treated with ramucirumab and paclitaxel. Gastric perforation occurred during the second cycle of chemotherapy. Although the patient's condition improved without surge...
متن کاملLaparoscopic Surgery for Diverticulum of the Abdominal Esophagus: A Case Report
Diverticulum of the abdominal esophagus is an extremely rare disease. We present a patient with diverticulum of the abdominal esophagus who could be treated successfully by a laparoscopic diverticulectomy with supporting intra-operative endoscopy. In patient with epiphrenic diverticulum, diverticulectomy with myotomy and partial fundoplication is recommended as surgical treatment. This procedur...
متن کاملLeft Colon Diverticulitis Presenting as Perforated Lumbar Abscess: A Case Report and Review of the Current Literature
Diverticular perforation is a common complication of diverticulitis and can lead to the creation of abscesses. The presence of such abscesses on the abdominal wall is rare and can lead to misdiagnosis. We present the case of a patient with abdominal pain and the formation of a large left lumbar abscess due to perforation of a diverticulum of the left colon and our surgical treatment of choice w...
